Sculpture works & Automatas

Head casts, 2018

The busts were commissioned for Els Dietvorst’s 2018 film I Watched the White Dogs of the Dawn. The casts were made out of plaster, acting as ‘doubles’ for two actors.

Most of my sculptural works relates, same as my drawings, to nature. Through sculpture I explore materials which often have a direct conceptual relation to a particular work while collecting pieces of used or rejected materials is a part of the process. Kinetic elements simply imitate movement in nature and, through using a simple mechanism, they also invoke the relation to a human presence in nature (or else the animal presence in urban environments).
