Textured Landscape, 2017

Residents and guests of the centre participated in several fine printing workshops which were facilitated by Nick Jarman and Pavlina Kubelkova and were followed up with an exhibition in the Grantstown church.

The workshops were an introduction to the printing press techniques and the processes involved in creative print and exploring monoprinting using a mixture of natural materials and stencils and employing a variety of techniques. Using the more familiar flower arranging skills some of the participants used their creative talents to produce some beautiful monoprints with floral patterns. Others opted for animal themes through exploring work with stencils and different textures created by using simple found materials. The exhibition marks the beginning of a new era for the church building and Grantstown community which, with the generosity of the Augustinian Church, support of the Centre and wider community, has the potential to become a hub for the arts and further exhibitions, film screenings and other local community activities.
