Smudge-Prints

Smudge-printing is a technique which utilizes otherwise a throw-away news-print paper as a background to my drawings. The random patches of ink also direct the composition and subjects of the drawings.

Mechanical Crows

In 2017 I got to look and think about the nature of a human being via the connections, similarities as well as the homogenizing of the local fauna into our (human) environment.  Crows live in strong family formations where generations take care of each other. They are social animals who would not survive without each other. Each crow has its purpose and place in the family and carries its own particular characteristics; same as any member of a human family. Looking for those particularities in the seemingly subtle differences in the appearance of each crow uncovers and emphasizes different characters of a human being.

One of those characters that we have in common with the crows/animals is the ability to assimilate. Animals learn to live in urban environments, they learn to utilize it but are also, to a certain extent, defined by it. The series of simple ‘Mechanical Drawings’ acts as a simple reminder of our own relation and our reliance on mechanization and potentially technology.
